OUR Girl is back for a third series with more episodes than ever before.
Here’s all you need to know about the talented cast that will be returning to the much-loved drama…
Who is in the Our Girl cast?
Michelle Keegan (Georgie Lane)
Starring as Lance Corporal Georgie Lane, Our Girl has been Michelle Keegan’s biggest role since her 2008 debut in Coronation Street.
The BBC’s official website for Our Girl describes Georgie as: “a crisis junkie and workaholic. Having done a number of tours including Afghanistan, she relishes the adrenaline and adventure that working with the army brings.”
Joining in the second series, Michelle won rave reviews for her role.
Luke Pasqualino (Elvis Harte)
Luke, 27, started his TV career with a brief stint on medical drama Casualty before joining the cast of hit E4 series Skins in 2009.
Joining the cast of Our Girl in 2016, Luke portrays Special Forces Officer Elvis Harte who is described as “fearless, impulsive, self-confident, determined and cool under pressure” on the show’s official site.
Luke’s character was involved in a romance with Michelle Keegan’s character, Georgie Lane.
Ben Aldridge (Captain James)
Our Girl sees actor Ben Aldridge take on the role of Captain James – a charismatic leader described as being “an army man to the core.”
Ben’s other screen credits include Lewis, Toast, and Vera. He also took on the role of Daniel parish in the BBC One adaptation of Lark Rise to Candleford.
Shalom Brune-Franklin (Private Maisie Richards)
Newcomer Shalom Brune-Franklin joins the cast of Our Girl in series three.
Shalom said it’s been “nuts” joining the cast, adding: “It’s always pretty daunting walking into something on its third season and I didn’t think I’d have it as easy as I did.”
Speaking about her character, Shalom said: “Maisie is one crazy lady. She’s rebellious, she loves to be the hero and bend the rules to save someone. She’s a helper.
“She does clash at first and we’ve been told this is like quite a few young kids in the Army. She’s outspoken, rebellious but good-natured.”
What is Our Girl about and what will happen in series three?
Our Girl follows the lives of a leading woman in the British Army – the first series being Lacey Turner’s Molly Dawes, and the second and third series Lance Corporal Georgie Lane, played by Michelle Keegan.
The pair are both female Army medics, with Molly serving in Afghanistan and Georgie serving in Kenya.
In the last series, Georgie was forced to confront her feelings for her ex-boyfriend Elvis (Luke Pasqualino) while her fiance Jamie (Royce Pierreson) waited for her back home.
Tony Grounds, the show’s creator, has promised that the third series will take a turn when it returns to our screen.
Speaking to Radio Times, he revealed that the show will focus on emergency disaster relief as opposed to the brink of war.
He added: “I’m going to be looking where the natural disasters are and where the British Army’s involved.”
It’s also been teased that Lacey Turner could return to the new series, and Tony said that if Lacey wanted to come back “all she had to do was ring him.”
