KIT Harington has become THE face of Game of Thrones and is also starring in a new BBC series.
Here’s everything you need to know about the leading man of Westeros who recently got engaged in the real world…
Who is Kit Harington?
Kit Harington, born Christopher Catesby Harington, was raised in Acton, London, and born in 1986.
His parents are playwright Deborah Catesby and Sir David Richard Harington, 15th baronet and businessman.
The star started focusing on his craft at sixth form, studying drama and theatre before attending the Central School of Speech and Drama at the age of 18.
Who does Kit play in Game of Thrones?
On the HBO fantasy series, Kit plays Jon Snow – the so-called “bastard” son of the Stark family, leader of Winterfell and (secretly) the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
What is currently known to few in the series is that Jon is secretly a Targaryen – with his mother Lyanna Stark married to Rhaegar Targaryen, before she died giving birth to him.
To protect him, Eddard Stark raised him as his own as a bastard, which saw him frequently bullied for his status.
In the series, he has just slept with his aunt Daenerys Targaryen, though neither of them know of their blood ties, and has pledged her allegiance to her to help her claim the Iron Throne.
It was on the set of the epic smash hit that he met and fell in love with Rose Leslie, who played his wildling lover Ygritte, in 2012
What other films has Kit featured in?
Kit’s first screen role was as Jon Snow in GoT – and starred the year after in Silent Hill: Revelation.
Since then he has appeared in a series of TV movies, including 7 Days in Hell – a Wimbledon-based comedy opposite Andy Samberg.
In 2014, he also appeared in the historical film Pompeii.
Following the end of Game of Thrones, he is due to star in the lead role of The Death and Life of John F Donovan in 2018.
He is also starring in new BBC series Gunpowder.
Has Kit performed in the theatre?
Kit made his stage debut on the West End performing in War Horse.
As part of the Central school, he also featured in a series of Shakespeare plays, including Love’s Labours Lost and Titus Andronicus.
In 2016, he took on the lead role of Doctor Faustus, and also appeared in Posh (the tense play based at Oxford University that inspired the 2015 film, The Riot Club).
Is Kit engaged to Rose Leslie?
The Sun exclusively revealed that the pair got engaged in September 2017
The couple met on the set of the hit show when they played onscreen lovers, but they are now getting married in real life.
A source said: “They’re yet to set a date, but told friends and family last week that they’ve got engaged.
“Kit’s known for ages he’s wanted to marry Rose but he wanted them to get a house and settle down a bit first.
“After moving in together in January he felt it was the right time to take the next step.”
How did Kit propose to Rose Leslie?
Kit, 30, appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show shortly after the engagement news broke and he opened up about popping the question.
The proposal didn’t go exactly to plan as the famous actor got so excited that he asked Rose too early.
He said: “We did a little announcement in The Times…
“I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early.”
Realising what he’d said, he laughed: “Sorry that’s a really bad expression”.
“I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load.”
