KATE Wright, who quit The Only Way Is Essex earlier this year, is dating former Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand.
The pair had been pictured together several times before The Sun was the first to confirm both their blossoming romance and the busty blonde’s decision to swap her showbiz life to play step-mum. Here’s the lowdown on Kate…
Who is Kate Wright?
Kate was born on June 3, 1991, in Essex.
She’s currently 26 years old.
Despite the surname, she is no relation to former Towie stars, siblings Mark and Jessica Wright.
She used to work as a business support manager for a big team in a bank before reality TV fame beckoned.
Kate has previously admitted she goes to the gym five days a week to maintain her toned physique.
She regularly poses for shots which she uploads to Instagram for her 581,000 followers.
When did Kate join Towie?
Kate joined the cast of The Only Way is Essex in 2015 along with friend Mike Hassini.
Her first appearance on screen was during the Marbella special when she strode out in a bikini.
Having grown up in Essex, she was already good friends with cast members Chloe Lewis and Gemma Collins.
What does Kate do when she’s not on Towie?
Kate is something of a social media sensation and her Instagram account has more than 500,000 followers while her Twitter has more than 140,000 followers.
You can also find her in the gym five days a week after she admitted she has to work hard to maintain her incredible figure.
She also has a fashion range with online retailer Miss Pap and launched her ‘Party Picks’ collection Christmas 2016.
Rio and Kate have also taken to posting pictures of themselves training in his and her exercise outfits.
Who has she dated before Rio Ferdinand?
Kate met Dan Edgar on holiday in Ibiza in 2010 and they got together when they got back home to Essex.
But in 2014, fed up with working as an electrician, he took a role on Towie which led to him ending their relationship.
Kate joined in 2015 and had to see him date cast members Lauren Pope and Jessica Wright.
They then reconciled and while the show was off air, they went on holiday to Mexico, but decided to just be friends.
Then, during the Christmas special of the show, Dan showed up at Danielle Armstrong’s shop and stood in front of the window to declare his love for Kate on some Brussel sprout-shaped cards.
However the on/off pair soon split again and co-star James Locke revealed Dan was “knocked for six” when Kate met Rio Ferdinand in Dubai and started dating him.
The Sun exclusively revealed Kate and former footballer Rio enjoyed a number of nights out together and he has been pictured leaving her home.
Kate banned any mention of Rio’s name from the new series of Towie and told bosses she has no intention of using their relationship to increase her camera time.
And Kate’s pal Chloe initially confirmed her friend is “head over heels” in love with the footballer in a video post.
In July 2017, Rio lost his mother Janice St Fort to cancer and Kate was on hand to support him.
How is Kate Wright playing a key role in Rio’s family life?
Kate also joined Rio’s sister Sian to compete in Race For Life in July after Rio and Sian’s mother Janice passed away from cancer.
The Sun exclusively revealed Kate was QUITTING the showbiz life to become a full-time mum to Rio’s brood – Lorenz, Tate and Tia.
She said: “I’m taking a step back from the public eye, I want to keep my life private as I lived my previous relationship on Towie, my priority right now is Rio and the family.”
Kate will now no longer be working with her showbiz agent as she turns her back on the industry, also cutting ties with several brands.
How does Kate Wright really feel about boyfriend Rio Ferdinand?
The busty blonde and former footie ace have taken their love to the next level – according to Kate’s Towie pal Chloe Sims.
“They look so loved up, don’t they?
“It’s nice to see her in love. Good luck to them!”
