JAMES Martin has been making us hungry with his cooking and mouthwatering dishes for over two decades.
Here’s the lowdown on the Yorkshireman, what shows he presents and his most amazing recipes…
Who is James Martin? What’s his background?
James was born in June 1972 in Malton, North Yorkshire to his farmer parents who worked on the Castle Howard estate.
He struggled at school as he suffered from dyslexia and later went to study catering at Scarborough Technical College.
James furthered his chef training in France, where he worked at three Michelin star restaurants before joining Anthony Worrall Thompson’s Kensington eatery.
At the age of 22, he became the head chef at the Hotel du Vin in Winchester before starting a TV career on Ready Steady Cook and the Big Breakfast.
What TV shows has James Martin hosted?
James is best known for being a TV chef and focusing on Yorkshire comfort food and desserts.
And his long-running role was the host of BBC Saturday morning show Saturday Kitchen, which he fronted from 2006 to 2016.
In addition, he has been on the shows Sweet Baby James, The Great British Village, James Martin’s Food Map of Britain, James Martin: Home Comforts and James Martin’s French Adventure.
The 45-year-old has also been a guest presenter on The One Show and This Morning and is set to return to ITV later this year in a Saturday morning show.
What are James Martin’s best-known recipes?
As he is the king of comfort food and often draws on his Yorkshire roots, one of James’ best-known recipes is for Yorkshire puddings.
He advises putting flour and seasoning in a large bowl before stirring in eggs one at a time and whisking in milk until smooth.
The batter should be chilled in the fridge for at least half an hour or up to a day.
When ready to cook, the mixture should be poured into a warm muffin tin and baked for 20 minutes until the puddings are risen and brown.
Who is James Martin’s girlfriend Louise Davies?
He rarely speaks about his private life but earlier this year, James revealed he was in a long-term relationship with girlfriend Louise Davies.
The self-proclaimed bachelor has been in a relationship with the PA for five years and even lives with her – despite his claims that he was “dating.”
And on Good Morning Britain in February, the chef gushed about how content he is saying he was “happy for the first time in his life.”
