FANS of Gemma Atkinson shed a few tears when she left ITV’s Emmerdale and before that when she left Hollyoaks.
But all is not lost, as she’s keeping busy having swapped the Dales for the dancefloor on Strictly Come Dancing – here is what we know about the soap star…
Who is Gemma Atkinson?
Gemma Louise Atkinson was born November 16, 1984, and is an English actress and ex-glamour model.
Emmerdale fans will of course recognise Gemma from her role as Carly Hope in the ITV soap.
But she’s probably best known for playing Lisa Hunter in teen favourite Hollyoaks.
She was on the Channel 4 programme for five years between 2001 to 2005, this was followed by appearances in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and the BBC’s Casualty before joining the cast of Emmerdale in 2015.
Gemma also co-hosts Key 103’s Breakfast Show.
Is Gemma single?
Gemma is currently single.
Her love life hit the headlines in February when she was treated to a meal at George’s Dining Room and Bar in Manchester by the former Man United player Ryan Giggs.
The former Hollyoaks star previously dated Giggs’s Old Trafford team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and footballer Marcus Bent.
Gemma recently split from her personal trainer boyfriend Olly Foster but revealed she still seeks his help when she has a shoot coming up.
During the early stages of Strictly Come Dancing she was linked to Alexandra Burke’s dance partner Gorka Marquez.
When is Strictly Come Dancing 2017 on and who are the judges?
Strictly Come Dancing launched on September 9 on BBC One, with the live shows kicking off on September 23.
Strictly always airs on BBC One in two parts. The main show is on Saturday normally around 7pm and the results show airs on Sunday at a similar time.
There will be a Christmas special again in 2017, with the celebrity participants expected to be announced in early November.
This year sees a new judging lineup after head judge Len Goodman retired.
