THE APPRENTICE is back for another year and it’s brought with it another batch of delightfully obnoxious candidates.

Among the latest intake of 18 ambitious businessmen and women was Danny Grant – but he was fired in the very first episode. Here’s the lowdown on him…

Who is Danny Grant and what’s his background?

Danny Grant is a 32-year-old business owner from Kent.

He believes his best quality is his loyalty, but warns he’s not “a doormat” and his trust shouldn’t be taken for granted.

He runs an e-retail cosmetic business but admits to being disorganised and regularly leaving things to the last minute.

He prides himself on being straightforward and honest, but can sometimes rub people up the wrong way “because the truth is hard to hear”.

He says: “I don’t get on with people with a stick up their arse”.

What is The Apprentice and when is on BBC One?

The Apprentice is a hit BBC reality show, now about to enter its thirteenth series, featuring hour-long episodes.

It starts TODAY (Wednesday, October 4) and airs at the same time as The Detectives: Murder On The Streets on BBC Two, Doc Martin on ITV and Grand Designs on Channel 4.

Each series of the programme aims to find a new apprentice for billionaire business mogul and Amstrad founder Lord Alan Sugar, who’s worth £1.4bn.

It aims to recreate the toughest of business environments and tasks for its set of contestants, but it is often very funny due to the incompetence and arrogance of the competitors.

The show began in 2005 and has a US equivalent that kicked off in 2004, with Donald Trump in Lord Alan’s equivalent role.

There are celebrity and junior versions of the UK show, too.

After returning on October 4, The Apprentice is on every Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.

Lord Sugar fires the director of the trailer for the new season of The Apprentice – before the end of the teaser itself!
