Who is Charlotte Hawkins, how old is she and what is her background?

Charlotte Hawkins is a 42-year-old newsreader and co-host of Good Morning Britain on ITV, who lives in Surrey.

Born in Chichester, West Sussex, Charlotte began her career as a newsreader for ITN in 1999 and also as a reporter for LBC Radio.

During her teens she had a job flipping burgers at Goodwood Racecourse, before studying English Literature at the University of Manchester and broadcast journalism the London College of Printing.

The blonde star first found telly fame through Meridian Tonight in 2003, and went on to host Sky’s show Sunrise with Eamonn Holmes in 2006.

After occasional appearance on This Morning as a reviewer, she then returned to ITV in 2014 when GMB was launched, alongside the other three main hosts Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and Sean Fletcher.

Nowadays, GMB staff switch-ups mean she’s more likely to co-host with Piers Morgan and Kate Garraway as well as Susanna and Ben, plus the occasional guest host like Jeremy Kyle.

Is Charlotte single?

In 2008, Charlotte married her boyfriend of five years Matt Herbert, at Chichester Cathedral.

They had a daughter together, called Ella Rose, in February 2015.

This meant Charlotte took maternity leave from Good Morning Britain from January to June that year.

On GMB, Charlotte has had to fend off some awkward compliments from Piers, who called her “hot”, and Eamonn Holmes, who said she was the most beautiful bride he’d ever seen – in front of his wife Ruth Langsford.
