X FACTOR hopefuls have all kinds of back-stories, but Alisah Bonaobra may be the first Filipino viral sensation to appear in front of Simon and his colleagues.

The wannabe superstar shot to attention in her homeland when she reached the final of The Voice of the Philippines.

Who is Alisah Bonaobra?

Alisah Bonaobra was born into a family of sidewalk vendors in Manila, the Philippines, on April 22, 1995.

She was catapulted to online stardom as a teenager when a YouTube video of her karaoke cover of “Let It Go” in a mall went viral in 2014.

Later that year, she auditioned for the Filipino version of The Voice, wowing the judges with her rendition of Jessie J’s track “Domino”.

After three of the four judges turned, Alisah chose apl.de.ap, the Filipino-American rapper was best known as a member of The Black Eyed Peas, to be her mentor.

The 22-year-old made it all the way to the final of the show, eventually finishing as runner-up.

Alisah opted to perform the Beyoncé smash-hit “Listen” in a bid to impress the X Factor judges.

When is The X Factor 2017 on ITV and who are the judges?

After launching on September 2, X Factor 2017 will continue at 8pm every Saturday and Sunday on ITV.

The show begins, as always, with auditions as the nationwide hunt to find this year’s winning act begins.

Despite heavy speculation of a judging shake up, the panel has remained exactly the same as last year.

This means Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne hold the hopefuls’ fates in their hands.

Alisha Dixon has also been appearing in the auditions, having stepped in as a guest judge when Sharon and Nicole were unable to attend.

It’s the first time in seven years that X Factor bosses have kept the same judging panel as the year before.

A source said: “The chemistry was perfect last year, so it’s only natural to want to bring the same line-up together again.”

Dermot O’Leary will be returning to hosting duties after making his big comeback to the show last year.
