Who are the Tapper family?

Parents Nikki and Jonathan and children Josh, 19, and 17-year-old Amy.

They live in north London and have done ever since Josh was born.

Jonathan used to own a kosher restaurant but now works as a chauffeur while Nikki is a nursery teacher.

Have the family ever not been on the show?

No, but dad Jonathan has missed a few episodes.

In March 2016, he spent some time in hospital leaving Nikki, Amy and Josh to hold the fort in his absence.

And fans took to Twitter to share their delight that not only was he fighting fit again, but he was back on the show.

Have they embraced their new celebrity status?

The family have been the star attraction at local events.

In November 2016, they helped raise awareness for Grief Encounter, a charity that helps bereaved children, by handing out cupcakes at Brent Cross Shopping Centre in North London.

They’ve also attended glitzy showbiz events, including a recent fashion show in aid of Breast Cancer Care – where they posed for pics with This Morning hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn

Holmes.

They signed up to top talent agency Big Talent Group in November 2016.

Why did Amy Tapper receive online abuse?

Poor Amy has been the target of online trolls over her weight.

When fellow Gogglebox star Viv Woerdenweber showed off her weight loss, cyber bullies suggested she should give Amy tips and made nasty and vicious comments about her size.

The family rose above it and didn’t comment but Amy has spoken about fat-shaming during one episode of the show when she told her family: “Even though being big is unhealthy, just as being

too thin is unhealthy, it is portrayed as a bad thing.

“Fat is a way to describe someone, slim is a way to describe someone, pretty is a way to describe someone. But the word ‘fat’ is used as an insult.”

How did the family lose weight?

The family recently decided to overhaul their diets after doctors told Jonathan, 50, he was suffering from type 2 diabetes.

Amy, 17, was also spurred on to adopt a new healthy eating and fitness regime after she was taunted by cruel online trolls over weight.

She has now shed a massive two stone, while her dad has lost seven pounds.

Mum Nikki, 44, who battled breast cancer in 2011, also joined in the family health kick along with son Josh, 19.

Jonathan told the Mail Online: “Being a driver, I’ve got used to grabbing food on the go.

“Now, I try to opt for healthy choices like salads or boiled eggs as snacks.

“I plan to sign up to the gym, but even from just making some small changes I’ve lost half a stone.”

How much do the Gogglebox families get paid?

A Gogglebox insider told The Sun Online that each of the families taking part are handed a monthly family allowance of £1,500.

The amount is then split amongst contributing family members at their own discretion.

The monthly wage comes with its own added perks and each of the families receives free takeaways to keep them going through each sitting.

How many hours of TV do the Gogglebox families watch?

In exchange for the £1,500 fee (and free food) each of the families are expected to commit to 12 hours of filming a week across two six-hour shifts.

That’s a lot of tele…
