X Factor 2017 has seen a number of family acts – and ITG from Norwich are the latest.

The brothers are set to experience heartbreak in boot camp this weekend where Simon Cowell will separate them. Here’s their story…

Who are ITG and Alex and Leon James?

Leon, 22, and Alex James, 18, auditioned for The X Factor and made it through to the boot camp stage despite receiving a ‘No’ from Simon.

Luckily for the hotel singers – who perform with their mum and nan at a hotel in Great Yarmouth – they were bailed out by the rest of the panel who sent them through.

The boys are more used to singing for OAPs and guests than global superstars and music moguls.

“We’ve always had a musical family, mum sings, nan sings, we’ve always sung and our family really pushed us so we’ve decided to have a go,” the pair told judges.

Reacting to their Ed Sheeran cover Louis Walsh said: “I didn’t really love the song, it didn’t really show off your voices and I think singing in the hotel you’ve fallen into bad habits.”

But after narrowly making their way through to boot camp ITG – which stands for In The Genetics – face being split up, as The Sun’s Bizarre column exclusively revealed.

Leon will progress to the next stage while younger brother Alex will be sent packing

A production source said: “Simon and the judges put the lads in a really tough position and there’s high drama. It’s an agonising decision for the whole family and there are a few tears.

“But, ultimately, they wanted Leon to have the chance of success, even if it meant trying to do it alone.

“Alex hasn’t given up hope and is still singing.”

When is The X Factor 2017 on ITV and who are the judges?

After launching on September 2, X Factor 2017 will continue at 8pm every Saturday and Sunday on ITV.

The show begins, as always, with auditions as the nationwide hunt to find this year’s winning act begins.

Despite heavy speculation of a judging shakeup, it was decided the panel would be remaining exactly the same as last year.

This means Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne will hold the hopefuls’ fates in their hands.

Alisha Dixon is also appearing for certain audition shows, having stepped in as a guest judge when Sharon and Nicole were unable to attend.

It’s the first time in seven years that X Factor bosses have kept the same judging panel as the year before.

A source said: “The chemistry was perfect last year, so it’s only natural to want to bring the same line-up together again.”

Dermot O’Leary will be returning to hosting duties after making his big comeback to the show last year.
