When is Back on Channel 4?

Episode five of the new comedy series Back continues on Channel 4 at 10pm TONIGHT, Wednesday, October 4.

Each episode lasts half an hour – a sitcom format rather than comedy drama.

It has been created by the man behind Veep and The Thick Of It, Simon Blackwell, and will have six episodes in this first series.

What is Back about?

Back is the story of Stephen – played by David Mitchell – a failed lawyer and divorcee, who is preparing to step out of his late father’s shadow and take over the family business.

However, at the funeral of his popular pub landlord dad, he is startled by the appearance of Andrew, played by Robert Webb.

Andrew turns out to be a former child his parents briefly fostered, who has returned to become part of the family for good.

And while Andrew manages to charm Stephen’s mum, sister and uncle, Stephen begins to get the creeping feeling that this “brother” figure is trying to steal his life.

Who is in the cast of Back?

Comedy duo Mitchell & Webb are of course taking the starring roles of Stephen and Andrew, having played reluctant flatmates Mark and Jez in nine series of Peep Show.

Back also stars Sherlock’s Louise Brealey as Stephen’s sister Cass, Penny Downie a his mum Ellen and Geoff McGivern as his eccentric uncle Geoff.

To top it off, the show is directed by Ben Palmer, the man responsible for The Inbetweeners, and The Inbetweeners Movie.
