CHANNEL 4’s new show Escape pushes the boundaries of reality TV as contestants have to flee a staged plane crash.
The show will be hosted by ex-Special forces and SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton.
When does Escape start on Channel 4?
Escape starts TONIGHT, Sunday, October 2 at 8pm on Channel 4.
What’s the show about?
A group of five engineers will be left stranded in the desert with the wreckage from a simulated plane crash.
Using the surrounding wreckage, contestants will have to build a vehicle such as an air-board, hovercraft or car, to escape to civilisation.
The five one-hour episodes will put the team of four in a different terrain — desert, snow, jungle or on water.
The team consists of an aerobatic pilot, a traditional craftsman, an aerospace engineer and two mechanical engineers.
They must complete their task without access to a workshop and using improvised tools – while food and water are in short supply.
They must generate their own power and make their own shelter before escaping. Ant will provide insight into the physical and mental strains they are enduring.
It is hoped the show will emulate the success of hit US drama Lost, which tracked a group of air-crash survivors, and Channel 4 game show Scrapheap Challenge, in which teams built machines from junk.
