LINE of Duty star Keeley Hawes is set to reunite with the hit show’s creator, Jed Mercurio, for a new political drama.
Bodyguard is set to screen on BBC One, but what’s it about and who else is in the cast? Here’s all you need to know…
What is Bodyguard and when will it air on BBC One?
Bodyguard is a forthcoming BBC political thriller that will focus on a heroic war veteran (Richard Madden) assigned to protect Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes).
Tension rises as the pair clash over politics and Julia’s bodyguard could soon become her biggest threat.
The BBC announced that filming on the six-part series is already underway but a broadcast date is yet to be confirmed.
Once it does air on BBC One, Bodyguard will then be available to watch via iPlayer, the BBC’s on demand service.
Who is in the cast of Bodyguard?
TV veterans Keeley Hawes and Richard Madden lead an all-star cast that includes Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders), Gina McKee (Line of Duty), Rowena King (Trauma) and Vincent Franklin (Happy Valley).
Show creator Jed Mercurio said: “I’m hugely flattered by the superb cast who’ve joined Bodyguard, led by Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes, both of whom I’m delighted to be working with again.”
Reuniting with the team behind Line of Duty, Keeley Hawes plays the ambitious and powerful Home Secretary, Julia Montague.
The actress has said: “Bodyguard is such an exciting project. I can’t wait to get started.”
Keeley’s other screen credits include Doctor Who, The Vicar of Dibley, The Casual Vacancy and The Hollow Crown.
Best known for bringing the character of Robb Stark to life in Game of Thrones, Richard Madden will now be turning his hand to a more realistic style of political drama with Bodyguard.
Richard will portray David Budd, a heroic war veteran turned bodyguard tasked with protecting the Home Secretary despite opposing her politics.
Richard’s other screen credits include starring opposite Lily James in Disney’s 2015 live-action Cinderella movie.
