IN the 90s, The Crystal Maze sent viewers into a frenzy as its contestants battled it out in the Crystal Dome, to win a variety of prizes.
And now the much-loved, puzzle-based game show has returned to our screens – here’s everything you need to know about the new series…
When is The Crystal Maze back on TV?

What is The Crystal Maze all about?
Contestants of The Crystal Maze are challenged to navigate themselves through a labyrinth of tasks.
They pick up time crystals as they pass through each of the four zones – Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Futuristic – which they need to use in the final mission.
The team of six contestants must then battle in the Crystal Dome to win a cash prize.
Who is presenting The Crystal Maze?
The comedian found fame through his role in popular British programmes, including the Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd.
Rocky Horror Picture Show writer and star Richard O’Brien was the first and most recognised host of the Crystal Maze, and presented the show from 1990 to 1993.
He was known for his kooky and quirky demeanour during the shows games, including his Victorian sense of fashion and playing harmonica to play while he waited for contestants to complete the tasks.
Edward Tudor-Pole then took over the show and ran the proceedings before the show ended in 1995.
When the show was rebooted in 2016 for charity drive Stand Up to Cancer, The Office writer and star Stephen Merchant took on the role as the host.
But On January 12, The Sun exclusively revealed that Richard Ayoade had been given the part.
Who will the guests on The Crystal Maze be?
Comedy actors Adam Buxton, known for numerous panel shows and podcasts, and Jessica Hynes, from Spaced and W1A, will be making cameo appearances in the programme.
Adam has his own character called Jarhead who lives in the Futuristic Zone, and asks contestants to answer riddles.
Jessica, meanwhile, plays The Knight, guardian of the Medieval Zone, who will present a major challenge to any foolhardy crystal collector wanting to get past.
