US preacher Jesse Duplantis asks followers for $70m so he can buy jet

A US televangelist is asking his followers to donate cash for a US$50 million (AU$71 million) jet that may “go anyplace on the planet in a single cease”.

Jesse Duplantis, 68, a Christian minister based mostly about 40km east of New Orleans, in Louisiana, says his ministry has paid money for 3 personal jets, reported Fox Information.

“You recognize I’ve owned three totally different jets in my life and used them and used them and simply burning them up for the Lord,” Duplantis says in a video posted to his ministries’ web site.

Duplantis is now reportedly searching for the funds for a Dassault Falcon 7X, price $54 million.

The issue with the earlier jets, he says, is that they require a number of stops to refuel. However flying the Falcon 7X, Duplantis says, will enable him to economize and never pay “these exorbitant costs with jet gasoline everywhere in the world,” reported The Instances-Picayune.

“I actually consider that if Jesus was bodily on the earth right this moment, he wouldn’t be driving a donkey,” Duplantis says within the video, “He’d be in an airplane preaching the gospel everywhere in the world.”

Duplantis’ video comes after one other televangelist, Kenneth Copeland in Texas, bought a Gulfstream V jet for $36 million.

Each televangelists defended their use of personal jets throughout a joint look on Copeland’s program, saying that industrial airways are full of “a bunch of demons” that get in the best way of their busy schedules.
