HALLOWEEN is quite literally rearing its ugly head once again and people are starting to scout around for costume inspiration.
These days getting all dressed up is less about looking terrifying and more about making a statement.
Last year’s statement of choice was of a whimsical nature as people flocked to recreate the “most pinned Halloween costume” – a stunning multi-coloured unicorn outfit.
This year is set to be no different as people stock up on purple powder and fluffy wings.
The picture was originally posted on Amy The Mermaid’s Instagram account but migrated over to Pinterest where fans went wild for the pastel shades and glitzy make-up.
But how can you recreate this look in time for October 31?
This is how we reckon you can bring it to life without spending all day in the beauty salon.
Let’s face it bleaching your hair white then adding in a rainbow of colours is not only time consuming and expensive but also could really damage your locks.
If you already have blonde or light tresses you could try spraying in an array of colours using a temporary hair colour in a can like this pink one from Superdrug for £2.99.
If however, you prefer to leave your mane untampered with you could always get yourself a fun wig for the evening.
We’ve picked out this pastel number from Amazon for £17.99 but there are plenty of other options available.
Obviously once you’ve achieved the perfect rainbow mane, you’ll need to top it with the all important horned-headband – the centrepiece of the look.
With unicorns being so “on trend” there are plenty of these about but we’ve picked out this bargain £2.33 white and gold number from Amazon.
Amy The Mermaid’s glow is unmistakable. She often posts quick make-up tutorials on her Instagram where you can learn her tricks of the trade.
Once you’ve perfected a nice contoured base, preened brows and a candied-coloured lip – you’ll need to slather purple eye-shadow all over your lids, blending out for a smokey look.
Next inject some sparkle with some purple glitter gel – we like this Unicorn Snot (sounds gross we know) from Amazon for £9.99 a tub.
Add impact with black liner and some stand-out fake lashes – although it looks like Amy has slapped two pairs on for good measure.
Next up, grab a rosy pink blush and work it into your forehead moving down onto your cheek bone, neck, chest and shoulder.
Once you’re happy with the distribution, go over the top with some pink glitter – like this Stargazer Pastel Glitter Shaker for £3 from Amazon – forgoing your normal highlighter in favour of some extreme sparkle.
Complete the look by haphazardly scattering gem stones over your face and decolletage, we like the look of these blue and white crystals from Amazon.
Finally you need the right outfit, a white dress of some sort is the order of the day.
Amy has gone for a fluffy white strapless dress, but whatever you chose make sure it’s something that displays your newly glittering shoulder and chest.
Top off the whole look with a pair of fantasy wings like these Smiffy feather angle wings, for £7.30 from Amazon.
