Theory of Everything – how to watch after Stephen Hawking death – is it on Netflix? | Films | Entertainment

Hawking’s death was announced overnight, with the 76-year-old physicist, cosmologist and author passing away “peacefully” at home in Cambridge.

The Theory of Everything was released in 2014 and was adapted from the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Hawking.

The film won a 79% rating with critics, according to Rotten Tomatoes, with Eddie Redmayne – who played Hawking – winning the Best Actor prize at the Academy Awards. Felicity Jones, who played Jane, was nominated for Best Actress.

So where can it now be streamed?

Unfortunately, in the UK it is not currently packaged on Netflix, Amazon Prime or NowTV.

However Amazon customers can rent the title for £3.49, or download a permanent copy for £5.99.

The company is also selling the DVD for £4.63 at time of writing, with HMV’s online store selling it for £5.99.

The film is also available on Google Play for £5.99, as well as YouTube Movies for the same price. iTunes, too, are selling the movie for £5.99.

In the USA, the situation is much the same: on Amazon it is available to members with a Cinemax subscription, or it can be rented for $3.99 in HD, or bought for $9.99.

On iTunes it is currently priced at $14.99 in the USA, or $3.99 to rent on YouTube.

Redmayne has paid tribute to Stephen Hawking, saying: “We have lost a truly beautiful mind, an astonishing scientist and the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet. My love and thoughts are with his extraordinary family.”

His children Lucy, Robert and Tim had said in a statement: We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.

“He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years.

“His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world. He once said, ‘It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.’ We will miss him forever.”
