The UK Heritage Awards: Pictures of Britain’s most beautiful hotels and landmarks | Travel News | Travel

The UK Heritage Awards for 2018 has revealed some of the most beautiful spots across Britain for its 16th year.

With 13 categories, it includes the best places to eat, the best place to stay and the best family day out.

Some of the judges include TV presenter Lucinda Lambton and Chairman Norman Hudson.

The well-known places featured are firm favourites, such as Hampton Court Palace in Richmond which won the award for Best Loos.

The winners, listed by the MailOnline, found the winner of the best Great Places to Eat to be Castle Howard in North Yorkshire.

Their afternoon tea is created by Head Pastry Chef Vanessa Wade who was commended at the 2017 Afternoon Tea Awards.

For the best Family Day Out, Alnwick Castle in Northumberland won the award.

It has been the location for filming movies such as Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, great for all the family to enjoy on a day out.

The best Hidden Gem went to The Charterhouse in London, which has recently opened to the public for the first time.

Its history reveals how it was once home to a boys school and a monastery.

Anyone wanting the finest food on offer should head to Gilpin Hotel and Lake House in Windermere which won best Gourmet Delight.

The Michelin star restaurant has a menu of Cumbrian cuisine mixed with exotic Asian influences.

Great Places to Eat Winner: Castle Howard, North Yorkshire

Shopping Experience Winner: The Queen’s Gallery, London

Wonderful Places to Stay Winner: The Victoria at Holkham, Norfolk

Best Event/Exhibition Winner: The International Autojumble at Beaulieu, Hampshire

Best Wedding Venue Winner: Myres Castle, Fife

Contribution to Heritage Winner: English Heritage and Google Arts & Culture

Judges Recognition English Heritage – Portchester Castle, Hampshire

Hidden Gem Winner: The Charterhouse, London

Best Loos Winner: Hampton Court Palace, Richmond
