THE Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins revealed he whips out his famous skintight catsuits in the bedroom.

When the band burst onto the scene in 2003 with mega hit I Believe in a Thing Called Love, Justin became synonymous with the flamboyant attire.

And 14 years later, on the release day of new album Pinewood Smile, Justin revealed he still has them – and even occasionally wears them in the sack.

Speaking to The Sun Online on the London Eye Pier after performing on board a Thames Clipper, he said: “I’ve got all of them. Occasionally, if the wife fancies some role play or a younger husband I’ll don it (laughs)… walk around with a boner in it because it reminds me of being successful. That’s alluring to a lady, success.”

The quartet are back on top form for album number five and admit the fun factor is back.

Guitarist Dan Hawkins said: “We had a huge amount of fun writing this record. I think you can hear that. It’s the first one in maybe two or three albums that you can really feel the fun factor.”

Justin added: “Ru’s (Rufus Taylor, drummer) brought the fun back. He’s made us feel young again and we don’t care anymore because we’ve got a young bloke in the band now and three old ones (laughs).”

In their pomp the band won numerous awards including three BRITS, and they still have the desire to replicate that success.

“We’d be lying if we said we didn’t want to be back in arenas at some point,” explained Dan.

“Just because we can make reality of all the crazy stage set ideas that we have. But we’re doing pretty well. We’re just happy playing to our massive fan base.

Justin said: “The main thing is we’re really enjoying ourselves but ideally we’d be enjoying ourselves in front of millions of people. I don’t know how much of a reality that will be but we’ll keep trying and see what happens.”

In the summer the band toured with reformed rock giants Guns n Roses and noticed the audience was predominantly under 25, giving them hope of a rock resurgence.

Dan said: “One thing I can tell you is 60-70 per cent of their audience were under 25 so contrary to what people might say, rock isn’t dead and we seem to be getting new fans everyday.

“Kids love it. That’s the bottom line,” added Justin.

Dan continued: “As long as there are kids we will survive. So keep on sh**ging guys.”

Bassist Frankie Poullain chipped in: “A lot of those kids lost their virginity listening to them and now those kids are 25/26.”

Cheekily Dan quipped: “I know I did (laughs).”
