Joel Edgerton played Uncle Owen in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, and has said he’d be “happy” to reprise it if asked.
He’s now promoting Red Sparrow, the spy movie with Jennifer Lawrence, but played the younger version of Luke’s guardian when the prequel trilogy came to an end.
Now, as speculation continues that an Obi-Wan film is in the pipeline, surely there’s scope for Uncle Owen to make an appearance.
Edgerton told Yahoo! Movies: “First part of your question is: could he come back? Yes. Should he come back? Maybe even more of a yes!
“I think me and Ewan [McGregor] and Liam [Neeson] in a movie is pretty good. Absolutely! I’d be totally down.”
McGregor played Obi-Wan throughout the prequels, while Neeson played Qui-Gon Jinn, who died in Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
He did, however, return as a Force Ghost in subsequent animated shows.
McGregor last spoke of the movie and his potential involvement in it earlier this year.
“There’s a lot of talk, and I’d be happy to play him again, but I don’t know anything more than you do,” he confessed.
“I saw the new one over Christmas and I thought it was really, really beautiful.”
Red Sparrow, meanwhile, is out on Friday.
