It was always going to end badly.
For insanely jealous and deeply guilt-ridden nurse Emma, the one person in her sights after James plummeted from that bridge has always been her arch-love-rival Moira.
Gabby and Laurel may have messed with her head, but it’s Moira who Emma’s held responsible from the moment she overheard James professing his love for her in the hospital.
It’s the last thing, though, that Moira’s expecting after a hard day’s work and a spot of clay-pigeon shooting with Faith. She’s just finishing off her daily chores in the barn when Emma appears
with an unhinged glint in her eye.
“Emma goes to confront Moira and from the state of her, Moira realises Emma is not in a great place,” says Natalie J Robb, who plays the farmer.
“Emma’s behaving erratically, she’s clearly angry and confrontational. Moira doesn’t know why at first, but as Emma starts quizzing her about James, the penny finally drops.”
Moira does her best to placate her, but the situation quickly escalates.
“As they are talking, Emma moves closer and closer to her,” continues Natalie. “Moira tries to escape, but Emma goes for her, grabs a pitchfork and, as they tussle, she also hits a light which causes a fire – and then an oil drum explodes.”
With the barn packed with hay bales, straw and diesel, it erupts into a monumental fireball and it’s not looking good for either woman.
“But forget the fire,” points out Natalie. “The most frightening thing in that barn is, in fact, Emma.”
