The pair struggled to stand out as they sang alongside Ginny Lemon, Doctor Woof and Russell Jones.

The group’s performance of Dead Or Alive’s hit track You Spin Me Round left the judges horrified.

Simon stated: “That was hideous. Honestly, one of the most awful things I’ve ever heard.”

Fellow judge Sharon Osbourne agreed as she said: “These guys were whiny and awful.”

The judges decided to only let Russell through to the next round.

Simon then called Debye and Hayley forward and admitted: “I’m gonna be honest with you: Hayley, we think you should stay in the competition on your own. Debye, we think your daughter’s really talented.”

Debye was immediately devastated and Hayley made it clear she wanted to stay in the competition as she begged: “Please, please mum. I want this so bad. Please.”

The pair went backstage to discuss what to do and Debye fumed: “They can’t expect me to walk back on there and hold my head up.”

Debye tearfully answered: “She’s my baby star, that’s what I called her when she was born. She’s gonna go forward. I would have always done it, it’s just a hard one to swallow.”

Simon replied: “I know it’s hard for you, but I promise you this is the right decision. There’s no guarantees, but right now, at least you’ve got a shot.”

Hayley, 23, will now continue as a solo act in the Girls category.
