SEX Pistols legend Johnny Rotten missed his own party but he can’t blame the fascist regime — he was barred for being drunk.
Johnny, real name John Lydon, 61, was already half-cut when he arrived at the premiere of his movie The Public Image Is Rotten in London’s Leicester Square.
Staff at a nearby bar later refused him entry three times, despite Saturday’s bash there being for him.
An onlooker said the singer ranted at door staff, adding: “Only Johnny Rotten could be banned from his own party, but he was barely able to stand. He played the perfect hell-raiser.”
The 61-year-old was remonstrating with security staff on the door after they deemed he was unfit to attend his own do.
Earlier, he stunned cinema-goers after turning up sloshed at the screening of the new movie.
The God Save The Queen star was due to attend a question and answer event after the film, but stumbled in half-way through it and started talking loudly.
When a woman ‘shhhhh’d’ him, he turned around in his seat and blasted: “Don’t you tell me what to say!”
The singer, with a group of minders, his wife Nora and pals, tried to enter the venue on three occasions and explained to staff the party was in his honour.
But the security officials refused to budge, and he finally admitted defeat.
Later he was rambling around the streets in the pouring rain after being turfed out of the bar in the early hours of Saturday.
The Public Image Is Rotten is a film about Public Image Ltd., the chaotic band that John put together after the Sex Pistols split up in 1978 and which he has kept going for over 40 years.
