Riverdale season two has been getting more and more danger-filled as it hurtles towards its gripping conclusion over the next couple of months.
Yet now it seems that another mystery is about to become even complicated as Alice Cooper’s (played by Madchen Amick) long-lost son Chic (Hart Denton) takes a sinister turn.
The last few episodes have already seen Betty (Lili Reinhart) become more and more suspicious of her new housemate.
His behaviour has become increasingly strange, and last week in particular even saw Betty’s boyfriend Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) warn the blonde that he’d had a “bad vibe” from the webcam actor.
Now in a new trailer for episode 15 of the teen mystery, which is based on the popular long-running Archie Comics, Chic seems to be taking his secret plans one step further.
In one clip, he can be seen cutting a photograph of the family in half, removing Polly (Tiera Skovbye) from the image.
And in another tense scene, Chic begs Betty for their living situation to go back as it was.
“Wasn’t it better when it was just me you and mom?” he asks, following the development that will see Polly move back into the house with her newborn twins.
Chic’s obsessive nature towards Alice and Betty has had many fans guessing that Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) isn’t actually the newcomer’s father.
In fact, some believe that Chic is actually the lovechild of Alice and FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich) from her days in the Southside Serpents gang.
Yet with the new trailer, it could prove that Chic isn’t actually Alice’s son at all, and is simply an obsessive murderer out to make Alice and Betty his new family.
As the drama heats up, Betty will turn to her close friend Kevin (Casey Cott) for help deciphering Chic’s true motives.
Whatever happens, it seems that actor Hart is around until near the end of the season, as actress Lili has posted recent photos of the pair enjoying downtime on set together.
The next episode will also see Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) and her mother Penelope (Nathalie Boltt) making a startling discovery when it turns out that dead father Clifford (Barclay Hope) has left behind a secret will.
But what will it say, and will it mean that Penelope and Cheryl’s financial troubles are finally resolved?
