Pokemon Go news: New Niantic update, Legendary Raid reveal, and Shiny details | Gaming | Entertainment

Pokemon Go news this week has been dominated by the latest reveals concerning the upcoming Community Day 3.

We now know that Bulbasaur will be the special Pokemon available to catch enmasse on March 25.

We also know that those Bulbasaurs caught during event hours will also have a chance at learning a special move, which will be exclusive to those Pocket Monsters.

But for Trainers to grab this new move, they will need to evolve an event Bulbasaur up to a Venusaur.

This was confirmed in a new Community Day update sent out by Niantic this week, which also confirms that this new move will be announced soon, ahead of the big day.

Another big thing to note about the upcoming Community Day is that there is a good chance a new Shiny will be made available.

Community Day 2 featured a high level of Shiny Dratinis and fans are hoping this will continue for future Community Days being planned.

While a Shiny Venusaur doesn’t stand out quite as much as a Dragonite, it would make them pretty exclusive – with the special move – if a trading system was ever put in place.

And it just so happens that Pokemon Go fans have revealed the new feature they’re most excited about.

More than 7,000 Express Online readers took part in a poll to identify the new feature that would most improve the game in 2018.

Pokemon trading is the overwhelming winner with 36% of the votes. Niantic is said to be working on trading, which would let fans swap Pokemon with other players.

Trading was pushed back by Niantic due to the game’s popularity at launch.

The success of the game took Niantic by surprise and meant that resources were pumped into Pokemon Go’s infrastructure instead of new features.

Trading was followed by single-player quests, which picked up 26% of the votes in our poll.

References to single-player quests were discovered in game files following a recent update. Niantic would later remove these files as part of another update, leaving fans unclear if the feature will ever launch.

Fans will also see the results of the recent Legendary Raid week announced this week.

Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza can all be battled right now at nearby Gyms from February 23 until March 5.

When this period ends, Trainers will get a bonus, depending on which of the Legendary types were defeated the most.

“If Rayquaza is defeated more than Kyogre and Groudon combined, Pokémon that typically prefer windy weather (for example, Bagon) are more likely to hatch from Eggs from March 5 to March 16,” a message from Niantic explains.

“If not, Pokemon that prefer sunny or rainy weather (like Trapinch or Lotad) are more likely to hatch.

“These battles will be tough, so we have new special boxes debuting on February 24, containing Raid Passes to help you prepare. Visit the in-game store to find out more.”

It has also been confirmed by Niantic that these new Legendary boxes that are currently available to buy from the in-game store will be leaving soon.

Trainers have until March 11 to snap the next bundles, which don’t look like they’ll be leaving when the Legendary fight is over.
