PIERS Morgan stunned Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid by SMASHING their Pointless quiz trophy live on Good Morning Britain – when presenter Richard Osman called him a “loser”.
The ITV anchor was sent into mock fury during the very frosty interview with the brainbox, causing him to hurl the glass item across the studio floor.
He had starred on the BBC show alongside Susanna in October last year, when the pair came second
Cheeky Piers, 52, sparked the awkward banter on today’s show when he introduced Pointless presenter Richard by saying: “You’re so Pointless, I can’t remember what you do.”
Then followed a frosty exchange of catty comments between the pair, who didn’t seem the best of mates.
But the general knowledge guru got his own back in ultimate fashion when he referred to Piers’ beliefs that winning is everything – and second place is simply worthless.
Just can’t get excited by Silver & Bronze medals.
You win or you lose.
Gold is all that matters. #Olympics2016

PUSHING THEIR LUCK 4 of the biggest scandals to rock famous quiz shows – coughing, cheating… and even murder
The GMB anchor tweeted during last year’s Olympic Games: “Just can’t get excited by Silver & Bronze medals. You win or you lose. Gold is all that matters.”
Picking up on his remark Richard, 46, said: “If someone goes to the Olympics and wins a silver medal – to you, that’s not winning.
“I think if you go all the way and don’t quite do the last bit, I think probably you’re a loser.”
Clearly a little irked Piers, 52, replied: “You know what, this is actually a silver medal” – before throwing the award on the floor.
Co-host Susanna Reid was left open-mouthed in shock, before branding the broadcaster as “mean” for attempting to break their souvenir.
Attempting to smooth over the situation Richard said: “You will have to come back,” yet Piers continued to rage that the trophy was a “meaningless appendage for a pair of losers”.
Earlier in the show the Londoner was in a more mellow mood as he admitted his MUM had told him off for being mean to co-presenter Charlotte Hawkins, for her struggles on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
On Monday’s ITV breakfast show, we reported his harsh words on her awkward Cha Cha Cha as he said he was left “horrified” as she forgot her steps, and bluntly surmised she “bombed” live on the Saturday night show.
This morning, he left the news reader gushing with thanks as he admitted: “My mother rings me up last night and says ‘Will you stop being so mean to Charlotte?'”
He continued to recall his frank chat with Gabrielle Pughe-Morgan and said: “she said ‘I really like Charlotte, she’s a really nice person, and all you’re doing is being mean’.
“‘It’s coming over really badly and you need to be more supportive to your colleague.”
