Peters lands Bunnies coaching role

South Sydney announced his appointment as the club’s development coach for the next two seasons on Wednesday afternoon.

In September, Peters was sacked by Manly after police were called to a fight between him and the club’s high-performance director Dan Ferris outside the well-known Orient Hotel in The Rocks.

“Willie Peters will focus on the skill development of the Rabbitohs’ full time squad players, particularly the younger players amongst the squad, as well providing the vertical alignment link between the Rabbitohs’ pathways teams,” the Rabbitohs said in a statement.

Peters played 140 first grade games which included 38 games for South Sydney during his time in the NRL.

“Peters is developing into a fine young coach and we’re happy to be able to bring him home to the Rabbitohs in this important development role”, Shane Richardson said.

The clubs also announced the appointment of Shane Millard as the Bears’ NSW ISP Coach, Willie Leyshon as the Bears’ Under 20s Coach, and Cato Rutherford as the Rabbitohs’ Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.
