Emma Stone, 29, shunned the classic Hollywood gown to wear something more unusual at the Oscars 2018.
The veteran actress, who won last year’s Best Actress award for La La Land, instead stepped out in a silk jacket and trousers.
A wine coloured jacket, which Emma wore with nothing underneath, was offset by a hot pink belt.
Stone decided not to wear matching colour trousers, instead opting for classic black.
She completed the look with a pair of plain black court shoes.
More colour was added by her earrings, which were amber and silver.
The star wore her strawberry blonde bob in a deep side parting swept over her face.
Emma worked with her usual stylist, Petra Flannery, for her outfit tonight which was by French fashion house Louis Vuitton, for whom she is a face.
Her choice was popular on Twitter, with one person writing “No dress for Emma Stone this year”, and another exclaiming “Emma Stone is wearing pants at the Oscars and I am here. for. it.”
It wasn’t just the fact the outfit wasn’t a dress that stood out – the colour was also an unusual choice on a night when most of the stars wore white.
Best dressed celebrities included Margot Robbie and Jane Fonda, both of whom looked angelic in the palest of shades.
Laura Dern and Allison Williams also looked sensational in white.
But sadly, not everyone looked their best on the night, with many A list names making the worst dressed list.
Blanca Blanco, who famously was one of the few stars to ignore the all black dress code at the Golden Globes, chose a very revealing red and white dress. Slashed to the thigh, the gown also came down in a deep v neck, leaving little to the imagination.
Taraji P.Henson also left little to the imagination in her dress, which was slashed to the thigh and slashed at the bust, as well as being made from a sheer material.
It wasn’t all skin on show which made for bad outfits. A List actress Salma Hayek chose a bizarre lilac sequin ruffled gown which made her look like a cross between a glitterball and a loo roll cover. Salma paired her dress with severe makeup, which did her no favours, and a tied-back updo.
