Oscars 2018: Best dressed red carpet celebrity looks pictured | Style | Life & Style

The Oscars 2018 has begun in earnest, with the great and the good of Hollywood waiting to hear who has won a coveted statue tonight.

But the evening is as hotly anticipated for the style as it is for the awards – with some A list names getting it right, and others getting it very, very wrong.

Happily, many of the arriving stars tonight looked sensational, with Hollywood legend Jane Fonda, 80, leading the pack. Jane looked far younger than her years in a fitted white gown with dramatic shoulder detail.

Felicity Huffman, 55, also looked age-defying in a vibrant red gown which featured a slash to her mid-thigh. The simple silhouette of the dress showed off her incredible figure, and Huffman paired the dress with rose gold accessories.

Flying the flag for the UK, Helen Mirren looked smouldering in a skintight blue dress, which she offset with a sapphire necklace and earrings.

Allison Williams, star of nominated film Get Out, went for a classic old-Hollywood style dress. The heavily beaded bodice gave way to a large skirt, and Allison chose classic curled waves for her hair.

Margot Robbie, who is hotly tipped to win the Best Actress award, also plumped for white, wearing a simple white column gown which featured a small train and straps which hung off her shoulders.

Not everyone chose a pale colour palette, with Jennifer Lawrence going for disco glamour in a gunmetal beaded dres which was cut close to her body.

Greta Gerwig bought some sunshine to the proceedings in a bright sunset orange dress which she paired with a delicate diamond necklace.

Sadly it wasn’t all perfectly fitted couture and breathtaking jewellery – with many celebrities not looking their best on the red carpet, with the worst dressed stars including Salma Hayek and Taraji P.Henson.

How can you watch the Oscars 2018 red carpet? If you want to watch the action live, a red carpet stream will be available on Facebook here.

While the red carpet has started and will continue for some time, the awards will begin at 8pm, 4am GMT.

Sky will be running the full ceremony on its YouTube channel alongside news updates.
