Paris St Germain have suffered a major blow with the news Brazil forward Neymar has suffered a cracked metatarsal and a sprained ankle.
The 26-year-old, who joined PSG for a world-record transfer fee last year, is now a major doubt for the second leg of his side’s Champions League round-of-16 tie with Real Madrid on March 6.
Neymar was forced off during the win against Marseille on Sunday and the club said that a scan has revealed a ‘fissure of the fifth metatarsal’ and a ‘sprain of the right ankle’.
The former Barcelona man posted a picture on Instagram of himself wearing a protective boot on Monday, with coach Unai Emery ‘optimistic’ his star man would be available for the tie with Real.
It reamins to be seen if he will make the crucial second leg, with Paris 3-1 down after the first clash.
