BMW X2 2018 goes on sale this month.
The new compact SUV was first shown at the LA Motor Show 2018 and can now be purchased in the UK with prices starting from £33,980 OTR for a BMW X2 xDrive20d SE.
It combines the exterior design combines the low-slung proportions of a coupé but the practicality of an SUV.
The car is a style focused model and is two centimetres shorter and over seven centimetres lower than the BMW X1 and shares the same wheelbase.
The coupe-style roofline and slim windows graphic combined with the short overhangs and tweaked bumper give it a strong sporty style.
When the M range launches later in the year it feature even sportier design elements.
Full-LED headlights come as standard on Sport, M Sport and M Sport X models and 3D Icon LED daytime driving light with laser engravings.
Standard rims on the SE trim car are 17-inch V-Spoke style light alloys but M-Sport models come with a choice of 20-inch and 19-inch alloys.
The car’s chassis and xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system delivers are said to combine sporting dynamics and efficiency.
Driving responses can be adapted by using the Driving Experience Control switch – COMFORT mode, ECO PRO mode and SPORT mode. An optional Dynamic Damper Control is specified, the car’s suspension can be adjusted even more precisely to individual requirements.
At launch, just the X2 xDrive20d diesel variant will be available.
This powertrain delivers 190hp and 400Nm of torque enabling a zero to 62mph time of 7.7 seconds.
Official fuel consumption is an impressive 61.4mpg, while CO2 emissions are around 121g/km.
The line-up will expand in in early 2018 to accommodate the four-cylinder X2 sDrive20i, X2 sDrive18d and X2 xDrive18d.
It has a drag coefficient of just Cd 0.28, and BMW says the X2 xDrive20d is one of the most aerodynamically efficient models in the whole segment.
Standard specification for every BMW X2 includes a 6.5-inch Touch Control Display with navigation system.
It comes with intuitive touch controls principles familiar from smartphones and is compatible with a built-in WiFi hotspot with LTE speeds, and optional wireless charging and Apple CarPlay.
There is also an option of the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display, which projects all important driving information and navigation/assistance system readouts onto the windscreen and therefore into the driver’s field of view.
A wide selection of driver assistance systems, it also comes with highly advanced technologies.
The optional Driving Assistant (within Drive Pack) includes Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info with No Passing Info display, anti-dazzle High Beam Assistant, as well as Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function.
The Driving Assistant Plus also features the Active Cruise Control system with Stop & Go function, Traffic Jam Assistant, rear Park Distance Control and the optional Park Assist.
