Meghan Markle: Kate Middleton, the Queen and Princess Diana inspired this new habit | Life | Life & Style

Meghan Markle, 36, is the former-Suits actress who is set to marry Prince Harry, 33, on 19 May.

The stunning actress is used to playing new roles, and is fitting in excellent to her role as a member of the royal family.

And now it seems the LA-native has picked up one particular move that will stand her in good stead.

Meghan is sitting in the “duchess slant”. This is a seating position named after Kate Middleton, but it has been in the Royal Family for much longer and has been used by the Queen and Princess Diana.

Royals never cross they legs at the knee, as it is deemed unladylike, and risks others getting a view up your skirt.

It is key to keep your knees and ankles tucked closely together.

Myka Meier, royal etiquette expert and founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette, told People: “Typically the ‘duchess slant’ is used when a lady has to sit for an extended amount of time while keeping poise and posture.

“It is the perfect pose for when a camera is shooting directly in front of you because by slightly slanting the knees to create a zig-zag effect when wearing a dress or skirt, your legs are angled so that the camera only shoots the sides of your legs and protects your modesty.”

The sitting position also helps to make your legs look long.

What should you do if you like want to sit like a royal.

The royal expert said: “The key with the technique is to square your shoulders straight ahead while maintaining perfect posture.

“Keeping knees and ankles together at all times, position your legs so that you create a slant, angling your knees to the side.

“Hands should be folded one over the other and placed in your lap.”

Meghan may copy something else from Kate Middeton too, according to experts.

How will Meghan Markle’s wedding hair look?

Celebrity hair stylist Allí Webb, 41, claims Meghan will copy one element of Kate Middleton’s big day.

While it is traditional for brides to wear their hair up on their wedding day, Kate bucked the trend, and Meghan may too.
