Meghan Markle always travels with hand sanitiser in her hand luggage | Travel News | Travel

Meghan Markle, 36, is the newest member of the royal family after becoming engaged to Prince Harry, 33, last November.

The wedding is due to take place in May at Windsor Castle, yet the young couple has already been on a number of royal visits around the UK, such as Cardiff and Edinburgh.

The pair has also travelled abroad together to destinations such as Iceland, Botswana and Jamaica, meaning a much longer trip.

The ex-actress has revealed some of her top tips on what to always pack in hand luggage when travelling.

Meghan wrote on her now-closed website The Tig that hand sanitiser is always something to take on a plane journey.

She explained: “I’m no germophobe, but when I get on a plane I always use some quick hand wipes or a travel sanitizer spray to wipe it all down: that includes the little TV, the service tray, and all the buttons around your seat.

Meghan notes how this may make you look a bit odd to your neighbour, yet is worth it to avoid falling ill.

“Sure, the person next to you may give you a side eye, but at the end of the flight, you’ll be the one whistling dixie with nary a sniffle,” she wrote.

It is a wise move to make with the tray table and seat button have the most dirty gems on a plane and have more bacteria on them then the toilet seat.

It isn’t her only health tip for travelling to avoid falling ill.

The 36-year-old advises taking probiotics to keep up the immune system on The Tig?

She said: “Always travel with a high strain probiotic, and hydrate like you’re dying of thirst – because even if you’re not, for your body – the thirst is real.

“This dynamic duo of probiotics and agua will keep your gut health in check and honestly stave off jet lag if you’re globetrotting on your travels.”

Planes are known for drying out the skin and body due to the humanity levels being just 20 per cent.

The body prefers to be at 40-70 per cent, meaning the body dries out much quicker.

Meghan has previously revealed another, rather unusual item, which she packs in her suitcase when travelling.

She always takes dryer sheets to keep her clothes clean. She told Birchbox: “Your clothes will smell fresh when you arrive—and especially when you return home!”

Where could Meghan and Prince Harry go on their honeymoon? Kate and Prince William chose Seychelles whilst Prince Charles and Princess Diana chose a similar hot destination.
