Police in Victoria have launched pictures of a person in his 20s they are saying used a courting app to fulfill folks then threatened to disclose their secrets and techniques.

A 29-year-old man went to police after a web-based assembly went improper. He says he was chatting to numerous folks by way of the app when a threatening message appeared on his cellphone.

It instructed him that if he didn’t hand over a considerable sum of money, private data he had simply shared can be made public.

The sufferer agreed and the assembly happened at Southern Cross railway station at about four.10pm on March 2. What the blackmailer didn’t realise is that CCTV captured the interplay.

Victoria Police media officer Belinda Batty instructed 3AW it was not clear whether or not the sufferer was in a relationship when he was blackmailed.

“I don’t know if that is a few associate,” she stated. “This may very well be about something. He might’ve been having a dialogue about one thing after which he may not have needed anybody else to know.”

Police have described the suspect as 181cm tall with a slim construct and messy brown hair. His fingernails have been painted purple and he wore brown cargo pants, a white T-shirt and a gray shirt and a was carrying a brown satchel throughout his physique.
