ALEX Bowen has revealed he’s been suffering from crippling anxiety that has left him scared to leave the house.

The Love Island star, 26, rose to fame when he took part in the ITV2 show in 2016 and met his now fiancee Olivia Buckland, but while it might look like he is living the dream, underneath the surface he’s been struggling with a secret anxiety battle.

Opening up about his struggle, Alex told The Sun Online: “Obviously doing all the PAS and club appearances, I had never suffered from anxiety before.

“But over the past year, I’ve been out and about and I feel sick, my anxiety starts to come on and I’ll be nervous.”

He continued: “I feel so unconfident. It’s so weird. I was on my way to a PA and I was so nervous and I felt so sick I couldn’t even walk into the night club. It’s a horrible situation.”

The star concedes that drinking certainly hasn’t help the situation, admitting: “Mine does flare up if after I’ve been drinking, it must be a trigger point.”

Alex has started using the Calm Meditation app to help curb his anxiety after being recommended by a friend.

The hunky model believes his issues started when he took part in Love Island and became a huge star overnight.

“I went into Love Island unknown and you come out and people will look at you and approach you and stuff like that,” he revealed.

“I think that’s where it started, I feel on edge sometimes if I’m trying to just chill out. But my mate told me about that app and it’s really started to help me.”
