LORRAINE viewers slated Justin Hawkins’ “awkward” interview on today’s show.
The Darkness frontman went on a bizarre rant about Southern Trains, “slutty” Halloween costumes and Christmas during his odd chat with Lorraine Kelly.
Referencing an earlier discussion on the show about whether it’s too early to start getting ready for Christmas, Lorraine asked Justin what he thought about the prolonged build up to the festivities.
He said: “You’re talking about spiders attacking people and women dressing up as slutty cats and then with Guy Fawkes night – it’s a bit like the man with the P45 – he had lots of explosives and we’re celebrating.
“But Christmas is the one where you’re saying, ‘Aww a baby was born, lets buy a lot of stuff for each other’.”
She then asked if he’d been spending Christmas in Switzerland where he lives and Justin said he “didn’t know if he’d be able to afford this year as it’s very expensive”.
Lorraine then asked him about a song on the new album, Pinewood Smile, which is based on the Southern Rail strikes.
He ranted: “We had to use the Southern Trains network to get into London when we were recording the album and it’s disastrous.
“In Switzerland, if the train is 30 seconds late you get an apology and a massage but here they’re completely incapable of running a reliable service.
“Everybody who has heard that song has experienced it and agree. My lawyers warned that I could get done for defamation but it’s all the truth…I sing it from the heart.”
When he described the view from his home in the mountains and described himself as “lucky”, Lorraine agreed but he interjected to add: “And hardworking and talented”.
She agreed saying, ‘of course’ and then asking him if he’s happy with the new album.
“There’s nothing I’m not happy with, except maybe the chart position…unless everybody buys it,” he said before staring at the camera.
He then said the album is going to be released on CD and cassette but “didn’t know” if it was available to download.
“People on the internet will find a way. It will have been leaked…anything where there’s anticipation always gets spoiled by internet people,” he said.
“Love you guys, well done. Well done for ruining the music trade!”
Lorraine swiftly wrapped up the interview but viewers at home sensed how awkward it was and took to Twitter to share their views.
One wrote: “He was just an awkward version of Russell Brand 😬 #Lorraine”.
Another said: “Justin is freaking Lorraine out slightly…. she is chattering even more than normal #lorraine”.

Meanwhile, the morning show was thrown into chaos shortly afterwards when a cameraman fell down live on the show.
Lorraine Kelly was walking into studio with McFly’s Tom Fletcher when he took a tumble.
Tom had been outside doing a preview clip on a bin truck to promote his new children’s book, The Creakers, and Lorraine went outside to meet him.
However, as they made their way back into the studio the camerman, who was walking backwards to film them, fell over on his back.
