A MISTRESS who allegedly posed as a “killer clown” to murder her future husband’s wife – could be executed if convicted of the tragic killing which took place 27-years-ago.

Sheila Keen-Warren, 54, was arrested last month after cops found new DNA evidence which linked her to the killing of Marlene Warren, 40, outside her Wellington, Florida home in May 1990.

Marlene was shot dead at point blank range as she answered her door to a clown wearing an orange wig.

Her son, Joey, recalls her saying ,”how pretty” as she saw the flowers and balloons the jester delivered to her.

But suddenly the clown shot her, and the 40-year-old mum died at Loxahatchee hospital two days later.

Bob Ferrell, spokesman for Palm Beach County sheriff’s office, said the incident was strange because “nothing was said”.

Cops initially suspected Michael was behind the shooting as he was having marital problems with Marlene in the lead up to her death.

Later, cops found Michael was having an affair with Keen-Warren, at the time of his wife’s death.

But he was later ruled out as Keen-Warren reportedly lived near the only costume shop in Palm Beach County, which sold the same balloons held by the “killer clown”.

Cops could not charge the pair, so they fled to Virginia in 1997, allegedly trying to pursue their relationship.

But last month, Palm Beach County cops identified Keen-Warren as the gift-bearing clown.

She was booked into Palm Beach County Jail on Tuesday, shortly after 9pm.

State Attorney Dave Aronberg said he is seeking the death penalty against Warren.

Describing the murder, Wellington’s first mayor Kathy Foster told Palm Beach Post: “The murder just consumed the community.

“It was very overwhelming to think someone could ring your doorbell and kill you at the front door of your own house.”

Ken-Warren’s lawyer, Richard Lubin, said she “vehemently denies” the killing.
