Ahead of the launch of the new series next week, 48-year-old business mogul Karren has admitted that she has been approached for a slew of reality shows, however she’s simply not that interested.

She told Sunday People: “I got asked to a cooking show when I can’t even cook! I’ve been asked to Strictly a number of times. Every year actually.”

Karen, who is the chief executive of West Ham, will be back on our screens opposite Lord Alan Sugar in a bid to whip his potential new business partners through their paces this week.

Karren appeared as a guest interviewer in series four of The Apprentice in 2008, interviewing the final five.

Prior to this she was a contestant in the BBC’s Comic Relief Does The Apprentice, for whom she raised more than £750,000.

Her interviewing role led to a return in series five of the show and in August 2009 it was announced that she would replace Margaret Mountford as Alan Sugar’s assistant.

Since then she has become known for her tough love approach to the candidates, and isn’t afraid to call out poor performance in order to push them further.

Knowing her worth to the show and as a business leader, Karren also revealed that she insisted she got the same wage as Claude Littner, Lord Sugar’s other adviser on the hit TV show.

Wading into the gender pay gap row, the star took a swing at the BBC’s Director-General, Baron Tony Hall, 66, over his indecision over the revelation.

In the latest edition of Radio Times, Baroness Brady insisted there’s no reason why the issue can’t be quickly cleared up and said: “The BBC keep talking about how they will redress the balance, but change can happen very quickly in an organisation if a CEO is determined to make that happen.

“Tony Hall just needs to make the decision to resolve it, and then go and resolve it.”

Baroness Brady said the publication of the wages of the BBC’s highest paid stars has highlighted a long-standing problem.

She said: “Gary Lineker earns £1.8 million, while his female equivalent, Clare Balding, is on £199,000. He is not overpaid; she is shockingly underpaid.
