When is Halloween 2017?

Halloween falls every year on October 31, which is a Tuesday this year.

It is held the day before All Saints’ Day, which is a Christian festival used to celebrate recognised saints.

Halloween activities typically involve trick or treating and dressing up in fancy dress.

What make-up ideas are there for Halloween?

Easy cats

Animal looks are a good option for those looking to embrace their wild side at Halloween.

Cats are a frequent favourite, and can be achieved within minutes.

You can either add whiskers, a nose and some spots for an easy look, or go all out with gold flakes and lioness-style make-up like below.

Clowns

With the release of Stephen King’s terrifying flick IT, clowns are set to be a popular choice this Halloween.

Luckily, creating the look can be achieved within seconds, as all you need to do is highlight and exaggerate your features.

Firstly make your brows bold and dark, and then add an array of colours to your lips and coming down from your eyes.

Deer

The trend for deer make up is growing year on year by 90 per cent, according to Pinterest.

And thankfully it is easy to do and uses many products you probably already have at home.

Presenter Lindsay Marsoun said: “I applied my normal foundation colour as a base with primer.

“The darker contoured parts are a deep brown and ginger tan colour pressed mineral pigment eye shadow.

“The lighter areas and highlight are a pearly pressed eye shadow.

“The black areas are eye shadow in a matte black colour and the dots are the lightest neutral colour cream concealer.”

She also added some mascara to lengthen and darken lashes.

Lindsay said: “It’s simple but takes a little time. All of the items used you should already have in your beauty bag, that’s the best part.”

Simple mermaids

Add a touch of magic to your event this year, by dressing up as a mermaid or unicorn.

To become a sea beauty, you’ll need to add scales, which can be done by holding mesh over your face and dabbing colour on top.

Choose green lipstick or eyeshadow to complete the aquatic look.

Devil

Why be an angel when you can channel your inner devil for a day?

Take inspiration from Alyssa who has used red glitter eyeshadow to dazzle any event.

Red lipstick is a must, along with horns – the more sparkly the better.

Doll

There is nothing creepier than a possessed doll, which is why many choose to dress up as one at Halloween.

Dehsarae Mahrae, 26, has nailed the pink, glitter look and even created a YouTube tutorial on how you can copy her.

She told the Sun Online she achieved the look with brightly-coloured eyeshadow, eyeliner and glitter.

Skeletons

Now you can be the reason things go bump in the night.

Skeletons are a Halloween favourite each year, and people are always pushing the boundaries in their creation.

While some opt for the effective black and white options, others choose to decorate their faces and bodies with jewels.

Ice queen

Channel your inner queen using this stunning look that is perfect for the wintery season.

Firstly you’ll need a striking wig, preferably white for a snowy feel, and best of all, a sparkly crown.

Highlight your cheeks and use white eyeshadow in the corner of your eyes to make them pop.
