The latest wave of fashion stars makes Karl Lagerfeld want to kill himself.

In an interview with French magazine Numero, the Chanel creative director, 84, made clear what little regard he has for some of fashion’s buzziest names – Simon Porte Jacquemus, Jonathan Anderson and Virgil Abloh, the new artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection.

When asked which one of the three he’d want to be stranded on desert island with, he quipped, “I [would] commit suicide first,” as translated from French to English.

That was just one of the controversial stances taken during the conversation by the tempestuous Lagerfeld. Most notably, he said he was “sick” of the #MeToo movement, and that models should know what they’re getting into.

“If you do not want to be pulled on the pants, do not become a model!” he said. “Join the [convent] instead, there will always be a place for you at the convent. They recruit, even!”

Lagerfeld did admit that there was some good that’s come from women feeling safe to come forward with their stories of sexual misconduct.

“That said, Mr. [Harvey] Weinstein, I hate him,” he said, before adding, “He is not what one might call a man of his word.”

Lagerfeld also talked about the only thing he loves more than controversy: his cat Choupette, who he has started to look like, thanks to his new beard.

“What’s funny is that with all this [facial hair], I look like Choupette … we’re [a] really old couple,” he revealed. “Moreover, it is she who maintains it: We sleep on the same pillow, and she spends her time licking it.”
