Dr Liam Cavanagh (played by Jonny McPherson) finally revealed the reason he is in Emmerdale during a visit to David Metcalfe’s (Matthew Wolfenden) shop.
The mysterious health worker had popped into the David’s store to pick up teenagers Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) and Leanna.
Jacob has been spending a lot of time with newcomer Leanna, who he has insisted is just his study buddy.
But his guardians David and Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) have grown suspicious of their blossoming relationship.
So much so, that they even asked Jacob if he fancies his new friend or is secretly dating her.
In the latest instalment of the show, the two school children arrived at David’s shop to work on an assignment together.
Funnily, David used the opportunity to tease Jacob about new pal Jeanna and their science project.
But he was soon left stunned when he discovered that Dr Cavanagh was, in fact, Leanna’s father.
The doctor, who has appeared as an extra on the ITV soap, arrived at the shop to take the children to the science museum.
Puzzled and perhaps a little confused, David said: “Dr Cavanagh, I didn’t realise you were Leanna’s dad!”
David, who has been nominated for a retailer award, was also surprised to discover that Dr Cavanagh would be on the judging panel.
In a bid to impress him, David invited the local village doctor over to his house for dinner.
Elsewhere, Debbie Dingle’s (Charley Webb) involvement in Ross Barton’s acid attack was exposed.
Attacker Simon (Liam Ainsworth) told Joseph Tate (Ned Porteous) that he was paid by Debbie to threw acid on him but made a mistake and targeted Ross instead.
The news surprised Joseph as he could not believe how far Debbie would go to get revenge and instantly feared what else she could have planned for him.
Will Joseph confront Debbie and report her and Simon to the police? Or could he use this to manipulate the situation for his own benefit?
