NURSES have slammed Emmerdale for showing Emma Barton kidnapping a baby from hospital without being challenged.
Viewers of the ITV soap have accused the soap of “poor research” after scenes showed deranged killer Emma walking into a deserted neonatal ward and abducting her grandson without being stopped or any alarms going off at any point.
One tweeted the show to say: “As a neonatal nurse I’m appalled at your portrayal of how easy it appears to abduct a bay from NICU, #emmerdale #inaccurate #poorresearch”
Another added: “Well she shouldn’t be going anywhere – all babies are tagged and will set an alarm off plus CCTV – so will it be accurate?”
“Total rubbish and infuriating!! Babies always in secure areas… this couldn’t happen! #unrealtv #angry” said a third.
A mum with experience of children in the NICU added: “Av been on the nicu with two babies and you certainly can’t get in and out that easy. Where were the nurses?? Ridiculous storyline tonight.”
Fans were also left fearing the worst for Finn Barton after he was left fighting for his life in hospital.
The office assistant – who is played by actor Joe Gill in the ITV soap – flatlined in the closing moments of tonight’s episode after he was shot by his deranged mother Emma.
It looked like he might be in the clear after he was picked up by Cain Dingle and Harriet Finch after crawling out of the woods and throwing himself in front of their car, but as Wednesday night’s episode closed, his heart rate monitor began to flatline.
Panicking viewers took to Twitter to plead for his safety, with one writing: “I am going to be so annoyed if they kill off Finn or blame Adam as the shooter!! emmerdale, give us what we want, a happy ending!!”
“Come on Finn you can pull through this,” said one, while another even commented: “If Finn dies on emmerdale we riot.”
The drama came as part of an explosive episode which also saw hospitalised Moira Barton’s baby safely delivered.
But while the confusion continued over the identity of the father – Cain Dingle or her nephew Pete – Emma secretly appeared disguised in a medic’s outfit and whisked the infant away.
One devoted fan commented: “I’m loving every moment it’s compelling drama at its absolute best Emmerdale the best soap by a mile!”
