EASTENDERS has been slammed by viewers after showing social services removing Stacey Fowler’s children after an anonymous tip.
Scenes shown in Friday night’s episode saw a social worker accompanied by two police officers arrive at the Fowler’s home to follow up on a tip that Stacey had been abusing her baby son Arthur, after Carmel Kazemi tipped them off.
The scenes, which saw social services act swiftly to ensure bruised Arthur and his sister Lily were safe, were said to be inaccurate by viewers who took to Twitter to share their views.
“Scandalous misrepresentation,” wrote one viewer. “Social services so underfunded, could never respond and should never respond that like.”
A social worker added: “FFS EastEnders justs makes mine (and plenty of others’) jobs harder! Stop painting a bad picture of social services!”
Another viewer added: “#EastEnders making inaccurate portrayals of social services. Visit on the same day as report and after 5pm too!”
“Just to clarify social services won’t ever just come in and take your children away, they are there to help you, not hurt you,” another said.
A fifth tweeted: “Oh p*** off EastEnders it’s not like this at all! Why are they trying to make social services look like the bad guys?”
“Social services would not just rock up unannounced, that soon after the call and in the evening. Total b******! #EastEnders” added a sixth.
Another wrote: “1 call to social services and the kids are removed – a never event in the social services world #eastenders #unreal #notrealistic”
Since when have social services started removing children without investigating?! Shocking & ridiculous portrayal of them in #Eastenders

#eastenders lmao social services don’t just take kids after an anonymous phone call like that 🙄

Yeah because social services act that quick with an anonymous phone call #EastEnders

#eastenders social services storyline is so far fetched a) they don’t turn up that quick & with police b) wouldn’t just remove them
— Kelly Abraham (@motherbear101) October 6, 2017
That’s the police and social services in Eastenders just giving people kids to other people to look after…aye ok #EastEnders
— Finlay Harris (@finlayharris) October 6, 2017
I guess majority of the social services won’t jump into the conclusion like that though? #EastEnders
— Nami Ryan (@Naminoo1601) October 6, 2017
Would social services really go straight in and take children away from the parents?? #eastenders

“#EastEnders that was ridiculously bad, social services wouldn’t act like that,” said another.
A viewer said: “Social services won’t just take a child out of a family like that. Just saying. There are several stages before they take a child. #EastEnders.”
Suzi Mann tweeted: “Since when have social services started removing children without investigating?! Shocking and ridiculous portrayal of them in #EastEnders.”
However, other viewers were heartbroken that Stacey had lost her children with one tweeting: “This is just horrible poor Stacey.”
“Feel so sorry for Stacey she’s a good mom,” said another.
A third tweeted: “Stacey losing her kids is going to break her!”
Viewers watched as Carmel, who called social services after Lily told her Stacey had hurt Arthur, eagerly offered to take the kids in for the night as Stacey stood sobbing at what was happening.
The storyline will continue on Monday night’s episode of the show, but time will only tell if Stacey will discover what Carmel has done.
