Coronation Street spoilers: Pat Phelan AND Eileen Grimshaw to EXIT amid secret bombshell | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Tonight’s instalment of Coronation Street was certainly a frustrating one for those who wish to see Pat (played by Connor McIntyre) go down for his crimes.

The ITV soap’s biggest bad boy had some of his crimes exposed by vengeful Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) in the back of a taxi.

Clever Tim kept his finger on the radio button, ensuring Eileen (Sue Cleaver) who was back in the office, heard every word her partner was saying.

Eileen immediately felt resolved to shop him into the police – but not until she spoke to him first.

The pair shared a tense exchange where Pat confessed to the scheme and Eileen packed her bags and went see best friend Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) who encouraged her to go to the station.

Just before she was about to speak to the police, Pat arrived and demanded to talk.

Frustratingly for viewers, the pair were then at home and it seemed he was forgiven.

Eileen asked to know if he had any more secrets to which the dodgy builder swore on his unborn grandson’s life he was telling the truth.

However, a shock twist could see the pair leave Weatherfield following Eileen’s embarrassment to be around her friends who all know what she has done.

She agreed to put the past behind them – as long as they leave town.

With fans fully aware Pat will be leaving soon, will Eileen also join him?

This comes as Coronation Street boss, Kate Oates, hinted Pat could be sticking around – but there’s a catch.

She told Radio Times that stories along the same darkness of Pat’s could become more regular.

Kate admitted: “I realise that, at the moment, Corrie is divisive and I will quite happily accept that it’s darker.

“In a character-driven show like Corrie, the audiences engage with stories like this and understand them on a deeper level.

“We at Coronation Street, far from choosing to tell a ‘dark story’, are using a programme’s voice to contribute to this discussion.”

Coronation Street continues Friday on ITV at 7.30pm.
