CHERYL has congratulated boyfriend Liam Payne online after his debut single Strip That Down became the biggest selling solo track from a member of One Direction so far.
The Geordie pop star, 34, praised Liam’s “savage” achievement on her Instagram stories – captioning it “#proud” in a new post after recently making her professional comeback on the L’Oreal catwalk.
Fashionista Cheryl, who gave birth to Liam’s son Bear in March, added a happy emoji as well as the hashtags on top of a press release about the track, which has sold over five million units worldwide and gone platinum in the UK.
The single, co-written by and featuring Ed Sheeran, has sold more units than any single by current 1D stars Nial Horan, Harry Stylesand Louis Tomlinson, the other members of the boy band.
Since then Liam has also released Get Low which only hit number 26 in the UK chart, compared to Strip That Down’s number three charting.
Liam, 24, and Cheryl announced they’d got together back in February 2016 after she split from her French husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
And the loved-up couple are keen on showing each other support for their endeavours, with Liam praising “superwoman” Cheryl at the start of this month.
Referring to her baby weight loss, he said at the time: “She’s done so well and is so happy with herself.
“She’s been working hard and if you do work hard, you get what you want.
“She had her rest time bonding with Bear at the start. She’s incredible, a natural mum,” Liam added.

Liam and Cheryl are now parents to a seven-month-old baby son – and family friend Nick Grimshaw, who has seen snaps of the tot, says Bear is a chip off the old block.
He told The Sun’s Bizarre: “I’ve not met Bear but I have seen lots of pictures of him though and he is gorgeous.
“He is really handsome and obviously their child – and they’re both gorgeous aren’t they.
“I am going for a roast at hers soon, apparently she is good at them but she has been saying that since I met her.”
Recently daddy Liam revealed the moment that baby Bear made him cry with happiness and also explained why being with Cheryl is so special.
The heartthrob gushed: “I was watching her do Fight For This Love [her debut solo single, from 2009] when I was a kid, and now we’re together with a kid. I feel like I’m X Factor’s biggest winner.”
Fans first twigged Cheryl and Liam were an item when they embraced on The X Factor at the end of 2015 but the signs of an attraction between them were first seen when Liam auditioned for the show way back in 2008.
