Rejuvenated Morata leads the line for the champions having left behind the bench at Real Madrid in the summer.

He said: “I came to Chelsea because one club and one coach believed in me. Now I have all of these things and I’m very happy. It’s the most important thing.

“It’s always a difficult challenge. It’s the most competitive league in the world. Yes, it’s physical. And it’s the league with the most teams who can win the title.

“There are strong teams. And we’re very happy because we’re fighting for the Premier League, too.”

Morata, 24, spent much of last season on the bench at Real Madrid watching Karim Benzema hog the limelight.

But Conte seized the chance to finally team up with the forward he signed at ex-club Juventus in 2014, but never got to manage because he left to take over as Italy boss.

Morata has scored seven goals in as many games, but admits he had to grow up fast after a first-day disaster when he missed a penalty in the Community Shield defeat by Arsenal.

An equaliser at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday underlines how he has settled in remarkably quickly to his new club.

And the new star of Stamford Bridge wants to go for it again with victory over Manchester City in Saturday’s teatime clash in the biggest game of the season so far.

He added: “It’s unreal. In my first official match I made a mistake and I suffered for a few days.

“The people do not see the situation, but I’ve grown and now things are OK and I hope to continue like this. We have another big Premier League match. It’s very important for us before the international break to take the three points.

“It’s not easy to win in Madrid, against Atletico. That test will mean we are ready to fight.

“We’re a very good team, we did a very good job and we will always go with the same mentality, to fight, to move the ball fast in possession.

“We need to stay happy as it was a very good job to win in Madrid. I’m very happy, not just for me, but for all the team.

“It’s very important because we saw the Chelsea level for all the European games. Atletico always fights for the title and we’ll take those three points.”

The Spanish star believes the key to his success has been teaming up with Eden Hazard, who played in a new role as a supporting striker in Madrid.

Morata said: “It’s not difficult playing with this kind of player. He’s one of the three best players in the world. It’s easy for me to play with him.”
