A SOUTH African cannibal gang has appeared in court after one member carried a LEG into a police station and told cops he was “tired of eating human flesh”.
The accused, all in their 30s, are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of human body parts.
The first suspect was arrested on August 18 after walking into a police station with a bag containing a human leg and a severed hand, telling officers he was “tired of eating human flesh”.
His statement led the police to a nearby house where more body parts were found.
The suspects – one of whom is a faith healer – have waived their right to apply for bail, and one has indicated a willingness to plead guilty.
Protesters outside the courthouse chanted slogans demanding justice.
“They must rot in jail, our children are now scared of going to school,” one protester said.
Prosecution spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson said: “This is a very complex case, and more investigation is being conducted.”
