BRASÍLIA—Brazil’s central financial institution unexpectedly left its benchmark rate of interest unchanged Wednesday, citing volatility in overseas monetary markets, and signaled the potential finish to a 19-month streak of fee cuts.

The financial institution left its benchmark Selic fee at a file low of 6.5%, after indicating at its earlier assembly that it will lower at the very least as soon as extra. It was the primary time in 13 conferences that the financial institution didn’t trim the Selic.
