A STEPDAD has been jailed despite his 14-year-old stepdaughter admitting she had lied about having sex with him to “show off to her friends”.
Vitaliy Okulov was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after Viktoria Okulova told her school friends in Perm, central Russia, that they had slept together.
Her horrified pals reported the incident to the school’s headmaster who called the police.
When officers turned up at the flat she shared with her five siblings, stepdad Vitaly and mum Svetlana, the girl reportedly broke down in tears and told them it was a joke.
But following a medical examination, doctors decided the two had had sexual relations and the 41-year-old was jailed.
Now the girl insists he has been wrongly convicted and says she made the whole thing up.
She told local media: “I decided to show off in front of my friends.
“I told them I’d already had sex. But I had already broken up with my boyfriend and had nothing more to tell them and they were asking for new details every day.
“It was stupid of me but I told them that I had sex with my stepfather.
“One of my classmates told the headmaster.”
She added: “The doctor gave me an examination and said that I was not a virgin.
“I could not even talk by then, I was in hysterics and I was crying all the time. I tried to convince them that I did not have anything with my stepfather but it all was in vain.”
Mum Svetlana Okulova said her daughter had been so traumatised following his arrest she had tried to kill herself.
A note in the girl’s handwriting read: “Dear mum and dad, I would like to ask your forgiveness for all that has happened to our family because it is my fault.
“I can’t keep living this way, an innocent person was jailed because of me. I can’t go on, do not blame yourself in my death.”
The family also claim the police coerced the girl into admitting she had slept with her stepdad by telling her he would only be given a suspended sentence.
The lawyer representing the family, Igor Savin, said: “We will appeal the court ruling. If it’s necessary we will go to the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation. I have never seen such lawlessness in my whole career.”
Police have so far declined to comment.
