Having been frozen in Wakanda during the end credits scene of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, Marvel fans were wondering if Bucky would appear in Black Panther.
While there was only a passing reference to him during the film, the Winter Solider did appear after the credits, having been defrosted.
The scene sees a group of Wakandan children in a hut, before running away from someone waking up.
They shout that “The White Wolf” – is awake, before Bucky Barnes exits the structure still without his left arm and dressed in Wakandian clothes.
Met by Shuri, who has clearly cured him, she leads him away to presumably give him a vibranium upgraded arm – as seen during the charge into battle in the Avengers Infinity War trailer.
Speaking with Empire, Black Panther producer Nate Moore revealed they were original going to show off Bucky’s new arm.
He said: “We did discuss [giving him a new arm]. There was a version when it was in, there was a version where it was out.
“The truth was, he felt more human when he wasn’t whole in Winter Soldier.”
He added: “He could just be Bucky and that’s why I think it was important for him as a character to go, ‘Not Sergeant Barnes, my name’s Bucky. I am a person, I am no longer a soldier.’”
Bucky returns in Avengers Infinity War, out on April 27, 2018.
